Werner, of Guatemala, was far from the Lord.
He had been born into a Christian home and had attended church with his parents throughout childhood. But his teenage and early adult years reflected a heart that was not in step with his upbringing.
Werner ended up marrying a woman of whom his parents didn’t approve. And it wasn’t a fairytale romance. Werner says, “Being far from the Lord, and the bad relationship between my parents and my wife, created problems in my marriage.”
Several years down the road, when their children became teenagers, the Lord started doing a work on Werner’s wife. Werner describes it as the Lord “unsettling” her, which led her to begin to seek Him.
She ended up finding Precept. And Precept led both Werner and his wife on a life-changing adventure.
Werner says that because of Precept, “we have found the key to really knowing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, through the Bible studies with the inductive method.”
Through this journey, Werner and his wife gained a true knowledge of God.
And not only did this journey of seeking God in Scripture have an impact on their own life, it also changed the lives of their children—and even their grandchildren.
This multigenerational impact speaks to the power that the Word of God can have both on an individual and on a family.
Twenty years after first discovering Precept, Werner is happy to serve the Lord and now even helps lead others to know God deeply through God’s Word with Precept. He is grateful for the Precept leadership over the Central American area, without which he says that he and his wife would not be the people that the Lord wants them to be today.
As a result of having a true knowledge of God through studying His Word, Werner says, “I have learned how to value the wife the Lord gave me, loving her, respecting her; and I thank the Lord every moment for how, with His help, we have improved our relationship and our life in general.”
The story of Werner and his wife in Guatemala is a testimony to the impact of Precept across the world.
